Honeymoon Day 1: Manhattan - Roxbury, NY

11/1/2016

For our honeymoon we opted out of the typical tropical oceanside trip, and traded in for a 8 day road trip adventure that began in New York, and ended at the far reaches of the Maritimes in Nova Scotia, Canada.  Every single day we were seeing the beautifully diverse views of new places, meeting new people, and eating delicious food.  I could not sum this trip up in just one post, so I will be sharing our honeymoon adventure with a post for each day of our trip..
Enjoy!

First Plane ride as a married couple!
Let the adventure begin!

Part of the reason we started in New York was because I found out that flying into NY was cheaper than flying into Canada.  We knew where we wanted our final destination to be, so mapping from start to finish allowed us to stumble upon places we may have not seen otherwise, but are SO grateful we did!

Convertibles, because why not!?
Rollin up in Manhattan

I'll be honest, my husband was way more psyched about the convertible than I was, but I ended up really enjoying it.  We discovered quickly that not many people have convertibles in New York, so we drew a lot of attention.  Also, we parked illegally to eat sandwiches and drink cold caffeinated beverages. BTW - best sandwich I've maybe ever had.  We meant to write down all the places we ate, but whoops - honeymoon mode - so, just do what we did and as you roll up in Manhattan, just yelp for best sandwich...I'm sure it'll be amazing!

We Cruised, we saw, we conquered

Arrived in the Catskill Mountains
Our hosts lead us up to our Tipi for the night...

Um...yep!
This is where we spent our first night of our Honeymoon.

At first I was nervous about my decision to book us a tipi, but the moment I arrived I knew it was the best choice we could have made.  I think it's the most relaxed I've ever been...in my entire life, seriously.

There was a fire inside the tipi, and my husband was sweet enough to get it started and keep it going.

So, where to find food in the Catskill mountains...

Picture
We were super hungry when we arrived, but quickly realized we did not consider that sleeping in a tipi in the Catskill mountains also means not having food readily available.  Our hosts were sweet enough to "throw together" a dinner for us.  When I say that they, "threw together", I mean that they fed us the most amazing handmade dumplings and salad fresh from their garden.  I don't know if it was just because we were hungry, but I still can't stop thinking about how delicious that meal was...OMG!

Best. Salad. Ever!

Star Gazing in the Catskill Mountains
Uh-mazing!

Before we went to bed we laid out in the tall grass and star gazed.  This area is known for amazing views of the stars, and boy did it ever live up to it's reputation.  We both could not stop talking about it.  We had never seen anything like it, ever..

And then, morning came...
